#1 - Hands off!
One of the worst things you can do with acne is pick it or “pop” it. Best practice: avoid touching your face with your hands. Your hands are covered in dirt, oil, and bacteria. Likewise, pimples are filled with bacteria and so when you touch them and then touch other parts of your face, you possibly spread the inflammation/acne/pimples around.
#2 - Wash your face - but not too much
To keep your skin clean and pores free of congestion, you should wash your face twice daily - but only twice. That’s enough. Excessive washing creates dry skin which actually makes pores produce more oil and more oil leads to breakouts.

After washing, it is important to use a toner and moisturize even if your skin is naturally oily. Oily skin also benefits from a toner.
#3 & 4 - Check what’s in your makeup and wash your makeup brushes
When your makeup gets mixed with dirt, oil, and sweat, it can cause pores to clog and lead to breakouts. Give your skin a makeup break! Also, don’t forget to wash your makeup brushes regularly!
#5 - Clean up your diet
Foods that are high in sugar create a spike in insulin that triggers your body to produce hormones that can cause acne. Dairy can also help cause or worsen acne. Add omega-3 foods to help reduce inflammation and promote healthy cell growth. And, drink more water …. 9 cups/day.
